The great need for a commanding view

 

Elon Musk has recently made the excellent point that his ability to command an approach to a future challenge was due to his learning to overview.
Such a person is a rare person and so are those we need to avoid the fear and panic in our communities.esp on the most complex of callings. 
Not only will that one person, by walking alone  for a while,  see beyond the maelstrom but they will see where and why we have inertia.
Such a person can be expected to carry some bad news for those of us who are insistent on retaining things and using our own limited logic to justify our mind heart and will restrictions. 

Love to talk to this properly but for now, let me try and inspire you  
A letter I wrote yesterday for one lonely author who doesn't know everything but knows enough to lead us away from the fearmongers in power who seek to manage the sheep.   

"One thing I love about Plimer is his courage to summarize other people's work , which we all know is a dangerous thing to do , because we can easily make mis -takes ( not always wrong but poor word use can just be limitation of shared language ) .We scientists use much more precise words than the worry warriors -and we get the equations right!-- test that one through your competence filter!

I always look for commanding and courageous authorship - there is no-one out there on the very high seas for climate change warfare as far as i can see ; if so tell me who it is?

Point is , sometimes we need someone who is so widely read that they have the courage of conviction ( like Geoffrey Blainey does when he marches across our history in Tyranny of Distance ) to bridge the gaps of specialists . Vaclav Smil does it too when talking about "How the world works" . Shakespeare does it by reading history and interpretating it as joy and thankfulness where it" has happened "

Shakespeare would hate the glass half empty company of you pessimists and cynics who now rule the world - with fear . He was first and foremost an observant realist - as we all should be . No more of the ever present innocent idealism that avoids talking about our real enemies ; greed ( abusing the limited resource s of cheap fuel ) envy, projection and our own preferred logic./justifications .

Plimer is convincing about earth history and the concrete things it teaches. ( compare your lots love of computer modeling and fact meddling , 2 column comparisons that Alan Kohler does for his primary maths class nearly every day on the ABC news )

Plimer is not a radiation physicist ( he's still a physicist like many of uni grads in that area ) but I haven't heard anyone have a go at his most excellent summary of the radiation issues. He marches well into another of my areas of study ; physiology of plants.

Blainey in his commanding grasp of the terrible soils of Australia and their impact is not misleading, but is not precise and punchy enough for me as a soils person at times; A pedantry soil scientist could win some points off his word use ( ped is a pun in soil science ) Don't be a pedant; be precise and productive when you criticize.

The point is mate, more precision is what Blainey, Plimer and other adventurers on this wild but stable and resilient ship would love to discuss - not like your frightened closed discussion declarations from the castle of doom and demonizing warfare called Climate Change Action ."

Add    Gad Saad  on Suicidal Empathy . We live in A post Christian society that lives on its feelings. Such sick and doomed and poorly targeted faith makes us rightly contemptable to our ideological enemies   
Look up Jeremy Clarkson and see how EU funds people to waste money on soil sequestering, 
Ask University Professors  anywhere in the Western world how much their lack of edginess is limited by the narrow and often pathetically limited funding focuses of meddling polys. 

I advised Melbourne University over 20 years ago that soil sequestration would largely be a waste of time but we still see Jere my Clarkson @Clarkson's Farm getting paid to rest his pastures and Atlas carbon offering our money to overseas land buyers to do nothing but buy our land . Such madness 

None of this is news or was news to those who study earth science properly.
